At BZ Orthodontics, our mission is to create smiles and treat patients like family, much like the Marines Toys for Tots organization. The Marine Toys for Tots began in 1947 and quickly gained popularity throughout the years. Marine Corps Reserve Major Bill Hendricks’s wife had some handcrafted dolls she wanted to gift, but found there was no such organization set up for this. When he reported that back to his wife, she responded with “Start your own!” And that’s how Toys for Tots was founded.
But wait, the story gets better!
Ever wonder why the logo is a toy train?? Bill Hendrick’s civilian job was Director of Public Relations at Warner Brother Studios. As a favor, Walt Disney designed the first poster for Toys for Tots which included a miniature three-car train, which was then adopted as the official logo. How cool is that!?
Marine Toys for Tots has distributed over 584 millions toys and supported 265 million children. During the holiday season please consider bringing joy and happiness to children who are less fortunate and donate a new and unwrapped toy.
